Rik Muilwijk

Rik Muilwijk is General Counsel, a Partner of Navis and an Investment Committee member.

At Navis, Mr. Muilwijk is responsible for legal and regulatory risk management in relation to Navis investments and disposals. He works closely with the investment teams on deal structuring and negotiating investment terms. In addition, he is responsible for the formation of conventional and Shariah compliant Navis investment funds. Mr. Muilwijk acts as the firm’s compliance officer and oversees regulatory compliance across the Navis group. He sits on the Navis Investment Committee and heads the Legal & Compliance department.

Prior to joining Navis in 2007, Mr. Muilwijk worked as a corporate finance lawyer for eight years. He was a senior associate in the corporate practice group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and received his initial legal training at the Benelux firm Loyens & Loeff. Mr. Muilwijk worked in Amsterdam and New York.

Mr. Muilwijk has been a resident in Asia since 2007, having been raised in the Netherlands. He holds an MBA from Rotman School of Management (University of Toronto), an LLM from King’s College London (University of London) and a JD from the University of Amsterdam (Vrije Universiteit), completing his elective courses at the University of Paris I Sorbonne.
